How to Master Your Day Like a Beauty Boss

Every Beauty Boss has different goals. It could be to rebrand your salon, it could be to be able to offer your clients a new and more profitable treatment, or it could just be starting a website for your salon! How many times have you gotten to the end of your day and realised you haven’t gotten any closer to your goals that day? We know the feeling! Striking the balance between being productive and not spending your whole life in a manic frenzy can be a struggle! We get that. This can be particularly hard if you’re a big dreamer and you have lots of goals. If you are one of these people, it’s really important to be strategic and smart with your time. You don’t need to work harder or longer! You just need to work smarter.

Why Do We Waste Time?

The biggest reason that we waste time is because we have a lack of clarity around what we are trying to achieve with our time. If your goals are too vague and aren’t broken down into tasks that can actually be achieved each day, it is so easy to get overwhelmed! We all have the same amount of hours in the day, so the more focused you make yourself, the more productive you will be! Try writing a to do list at the beginning of the day to get in the habit of setting yourself small and achievable tasks (also how great does it feel to tick something off!)

Time Blocking

Obviously when you’re in your salon, your appointments naturally form blocks in your day, but what about outside of salon hours? Your day-to-day productivity can be drastically improved by having an hour by hour guide of what you are going to do each day. The best way to do this is to write down EVERYTHING you can going to do each day, from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. Such as: 8am – wake up 8:30 – shower etc, this way you can visualise the time you have spare in the day and are able to set specific time aside to work on your goals.

Work Out Your Core Activities and Priorities

When you’re running a beauty business, there can be so many different areas that need your attention. Working out your ‘core’ activities will usually include admin, payroll, rota etc, as these are the daily tasks (albeit boring!) that will keep your business up and running. Once these tasks are done, you can focus on your goals! These are the things that make you excited and are ultimately the most enjoyable and beneficial to your beauty business. This links back to the idea of Time Blocking, as if it’s scheduled in, it will get done!

A little bit of clarity, time planning and focus really can make all the difference when you’re trying to reach your goals! Give it a try!
